Members of Troop N Pennsylvania State Police are proud to sponsor the Camp Cadet program. This week-long, co-ed camp is designed to give young people a better understanding of law enforcement activities in a structured State Police training school atmosphere. The main goal is to teach participants aspects of the diverse criminal justice system. The camp focuses on discipline, self-esteem, teamwork, character, violence prevention, and drug & alcohol education, as well as issues facing today’s youth.
To be eligible, youths must be 12-14 years of age and reside within the Troop N counties of lower Luzerne, Carbon, Columbia, and Monroe counties.
Anyone interested must submit an application no later than March 31. Names are randomly selected from entries, and these children are contacted for an interview with camp directors. If your child is welcomed to the camp, the only cost to you is a $20 administrative fee, payable at the interview time. (Please do not send money with the application.)
Camp is held at the local campus of Penn State University in Hazleton, PA. Directions and additional information are provided to accepted camp candidates. Check-in happens on the afternoon of Sunday, July 14. The week is concluded on Friday, July 19, following a graduation ceremony with family and friends
