The Vernal School Environmental Education Partnership, in conjunction with the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association and the Montour Area Recreation Commission, will be holding a series of nature-focused day camp opportunities for younger children at the Montour Preserve during the summer months.
Called Habitat Helpers, this program is for potty-trained kids ages 3 to those entering kindergarten this coming fall and focuses on learning about different habitats and the creatures that call them home. It will include a hands-on project families can take home to improve habitat in their backyards and communities.
Program days will be themed for three different habitats to begin — woodland, aquatic and grasslands. Students will learn about each of those specialized areas and the nature that calls them home.
Program days run 8-11:30 a.m. with the following days and themes available:
- June 10: Woodland
- June 13: Aquatic
- June 14: Grassland
- June 17: Grassland (same as June 14 program)
- June 19: Aquatic (same as June 13 program)
- June 28: Woodland (same as June 10 program)
