Homemade and Heartfelt: Valentine’s Day Crafts & Snacks for Kids

Janine Hall, mama and guru of all things crafty and cute, is back again with a Valentine’s Day edition! We’ve got more projects that are (as always) fairly simple, and most likely only require things we would have in our own homes or can easily acquire. Most of these items can be purchased at places like Amazon, Walmart, or Dollar Tree, and you can also get creative with the materials you have at home!

Be sure to follow Janine on Instagram @janinehallknotslifemom for all sorts of fun, family-friendly content! If you end up making any of these crafts or treats, be sure to tag @susquehannakids and @janinehallknotslifemom; we love seeing your cute creations and they just might be featured on our social media pages!

❤️Happy Love Month Friends.

I really enjoy family time at home doing the simple things! I also love a little holiday magic. We love puzzles, bingo, tic tac toe, coloring, baking all the yummy treats. Putting all these things together in an occasion bin makes it easy to have on hand for easy setup and festive fun.

I LOVE a family activity bin and I hope it inspires some of you for a month full of family time fun.

Love, Janine

🧀Kids’ Valentine’s Charcuterie Board❤️

“I adore a kids’ charcuterie board with a mixture of healthy snacks and a little festive fun. Perfect for after school snacks, movie night, or a Valentine’s Party.

To make this board, I grabbed a heart shaped wood cutout and ‘I’, ‘❤️’ and ‘U’ shaped cookies cutters from Dollar Tree. Fill with your favorite snacks. A small heart cookie cutter is great for cutting heart shapes from fruit, vegetables, or cheese to add a festive touch.

🐦Woodland Animals Wreaths & Strands❤️

“We love to make little treats for our feathered friends in the winter. A fun and festive activity for the whole family. Heart shaped cookie cutters and wreaths are great tools to make Valentine’s treats.”

Wreath Supply List:
•Wire heart found at Dollar Tree while supplies last. (*plastic heart wreath at Walmart will also work, just remove tinsel)
•Garland or evergreen clippings
•Oranges/pinecones
•Peanut butter
•Bird seed
•Floral wire (found at most hardware stores)
•Ribbon

Check out how we put this together at @janinehallknotslifemom

To Make Strands: Take your fruit slices (we used oranges, apples, and cranberries) and add some peanut butter and birdseed. String together with a needle and stronger string like jute rope. Hang for woodland birds and creatures to enjoy.

❤️Hearts Hopscotch❤️

“Even though temperatures have dropped, outdoor fun can still be had. Chalk heart hopscotch is a fun and simple activity. Join in with the kids!”

📚Valentine’s Bookmarks🩷

“We love to read seasonal and holiday books as a family. DIY bookmarks are a fun craft for the whole family.”

Supplies:
•Clear bookmark sleeves (Amazon)
•Glitter, confetti, beads, more glitter
•Special confetti (Taylor and Sports) are again Valentine’s printables downsized and cutout to fit in sleeves from @the.lettervee
•Scrap yarn, ribbon

To Make: Fill bookmarks to desired amount. I like to seal with hot glue gun so none of the glitter comes out. These are fun to make for friends, grandparents, or classmates.

💜Coffee Filter Hearts🩷

“This is a fun and easy craft to do that looks so pretty when hung in the windows.”

Supplies:
•Coffee Filters
•Markers (I like to use reds, pinks, and purples for Valentine’s Day)
•Scissors
•Cookie sheet
•Spray bottle with water

To Make:
Cut heart shapes out of coffee filters. Place on cookie sheet and color with markers. The more color on them the prettier they will turn out. When you are finished coloring spray all the hearts with some water. I find less is more so one squirt to start and watch the magic happen! Allow them to completely dry and hang in the windows for a beautiful heart display!
