7 Local Swimming Pools

The heat of the summer has us longing for more enjoyable opportunities to get wet and stay cool. Fortunately, Bloomsburg and its surrounding towns are home to many wonderful pools! The Bloomsburg Town Pool isn’t ready for 2022 swimming, so we’ve scoured the area for the best pools for you and your kids to slash, swim, and play! Below are seven of our favorites :


Crystal Pool

Knoebel’s Crystal Pool (Elysburg)

Knoebels is well known in the area as an amazing amusement park and campground, but they
also have an enormous pool complete with two sliding boards and a deep end with multiple
diving boards. There is an extraordinary kiddie pool area for little children that is well equipped
for climbing, swinging, and getting soaked in a shallower environment. In addition, the “Tiny Tots Swim School” is available. Registration gives you and your child the ability to undergo swim
lessons with the guidance of Red Cross Certified lifeguards. Finally, the Crystal Pool premises has
four exciting waterslides- two speed slides and two tunnel slides, making this an absolute gem in
the area for all water-oriented fun!


BerVaughn Pool

Ber-Vaughn Swimming Pool (Berwick)

Owned by the Berwick Area Swimming Pool Association, Ber-Vaughn boasts the status of largest community pool in Pennsylvania, and provides a wonderful and affordable way to swim. There is a concession stand to purchase lunch or snacks, and plenty of places to relax when not swimming. They host events such as their Flick ‘n’ Float, where you can float around or sit poolside and watch a movie; Doggy Dip, where families can bring their dogs for a fun day of swimming; or their summer reading program which entails an hour of group reading and projects/crafts, with the option to partake in swim lessons afterwards or have an hour of free swim before the pool opens to the rest of the public.

The Little Fishing Creek Area Swimming Pool

The Little Fishing Creek Area Swimming Pool (Millville)

This small community pool located in Millville near the town park and high school is a perfect place for family and friends to meet for fun in the sun! Season passes or daily entry is available as well as concessions, and they host special events and other fun community activities – even offering half-priced entry for some of these. In addition, the pool has group and private swim lessons available, and allows members and guests to host pool parties using their facilities.


Sunbury Pool

The Sunbury Youth and Community Center, originally constructed in 1960, was renamed The James R. Eister Youth and Community Center in 2017, and consists of the Sunbury Community Pool, an indoor ice-skating rink, and outdoor tennis courts. The pool itself has a number of unique features, including a wonderful kiddie area, as well as multiple water slides and climbing walls. As with several of the other pools, swimming lessons are available, and folks can access the pool either by day pass or membership. There is even discounted admission after 5pm Monday-Friday and after 3pm on Saturday and Sunday!

Sunnybrook Swimming Pool (Danville)

Located close to downtown Danville, Sunnybrook is a fabulous park that features a playground, pool, and pavilions for rent. The park and pool were first opened in 1927 and have undergone several improvements and renovations since that time. There is a kiddie swim area and a large pool with handicapped access, as well as grassy places to play and eat. Swim lessons for children are offered with prior registration. Finally, affordable pavilion rentals make this the perfect place to host a party, reunion, or other special family event.


Lewisburg Community Pool

Overseen and run by the Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority, this pool was built in 1955 and most recently renovated in 2004. The property features 3 connected pools, a baby pool, and two water slides which are each 27 feet tall- tall enough to be registered with the state as an amusement park ride! As well as daily or membership access, there are options to rent cabanas (shaded tents) or hosting private parties with exclusive use of the pool. Swim lessons are offered too, with options for either group or private instruction. The pool area has a snack bar to grab a bite and playground after you are finished swimming.

Selinsgrove Area Community Pool

This lovely pool allows for daily passes, memberships, and even offers half priced entry each day after 5pm. The pool features slides, diving boards, and a splash pad for all types of watery fun! There are various levels of swim lessons offered to different age groups/skill levels; as well as many events each summer, including the Splash and Dash 5k run and party rentals in either daytime or evening hours. One of the unique things this pool offers is their “Sunken Treasure Scuba Center”, which provides scuba lessons using diving equipment for ages 12 and over.
